Policies & Procedures
At Legacy Dance Company, our goal is to provide a positive, organized, and rewarding experience for every dancer and family. Please review the following policies and procedures to help ensure a successful season.
Studio Schedule & Closings
Legacy Dance Company follows the Stanly County Schools calendar for major holidays and school breaks. Please note that we do not close for teacher workdays.
In the event of inclement weather, the studio will not automatically close if local schools are dismissed. Because classes take place later in the day, road conditions often improve by class time. Any schedule changes or closures will be communicated through:

Tuition
Tuition is based on the entire dance season, not the number of classes in a particular month. Monthly tuition remains the same regardless of holidays, studio closings, or the number of classes scheduled during that month.
- Tuition is due on the first class of each month.
- A $25 late fee will be assessed on accounts not paid by the 10th of the month.
- Tuition is non-refundable.
- Students with accounts more than 30 days past due may not participate in class until the account is brought current.
- Tuition is not prorated for missed classes; however, makeup class opportunities may be available with instructor approval.
Payment Information
Payments may be submitted through the studio office.
- Cash, checks, and approved payment methods are accepted.
- A receipt will be provided for all cash payments.
- Returned checks are subject to a $30 fee.

Costume Fees
Costume fees must be paid in full and all tuition accounts must be current before costumes are ordered.
Important reminders:
- Costume fees are non-refundable.
- Costumes are ordered according to measurements and sizing recommendations provided by instructors.
- Parents are responsible for any costs associated with exchanges or alterations.
- Costume payments are divided into three installments due in October, November, and January.
- Late costume payments may result in costumes becoming unavailable from the manufacturer.
Class Attire
Proper dance attire is required for all classes. Street clothes and street shoes are not permitted in the classroom.
Ballet
- Leotard
- Tights
- Pink ballet shoes
- Hair secured in a neat bun
Jazz
- Leotard or dance top
- Dance shorts
- Tan jazz shoes
Tap
- Leotard or dance top
- Dance shorts
- Tan buckle tap shoes (Preschool, Mini, and Peewee classes)
- Black lace-up tap shoes (all other levels)
Acro
- Leotard or dance top
- Dance shorts
- Bare feet
Hip Hop
- Dance attire
- Clean tennis shoes designated for studio use
For all classes, dancers' hair should be securely pulled back and away from the face.
Recital Information
The annual recital is one of the highlights of our season. Dates will be confirmed as soon as venue arrangements are finalized.
Tentative 2027 Recital Schedule
Rehearsal: May 26, 2027
Performance: May 27, 2027
Location: Stanly County Agri-Civic Center
A recital fee will be collected in March and includes:
- Venue rehearsal
- Official recital t-shirt
- Digital recording of the performance
Admission is always free for family and friends.
Class Placement
The first two to three weeks of classes serve as an evaluation period for instructors.
To ensure every dancer is placed in the most appropriate class, instructors reserve the right to recommend a different class level based on age, skill development, technical proficiency, and overall readiness.
Our goal is to position every dancer where they will be challenged, encouraged, and successful.

Youth Dancers Shine Alongside International Artists!
The Dance With Us program, exclusive to NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet, gives young dancers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to audition, rehearse, and perform alongside a world-class international touring ballet company.
Each year, this unique program enriches the lives of more than 75,000 children across the United States, providing invaluable performance experience, artistic growth, and unforgettable memories.

Youth Audition Requirements
The youth cast is the heart of NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet. Dancers ages 6 to 17 are welcome to audition, regardless of technical level or experience.
Roles are available for dancers of all abilities, including:

- Snowflakes
- Snow Maidens
- Variations
The 34th Anniversary Tour features professional artists from Ukraine, England, Italy, Kazakhstan, Japan, and beyond, creating an unforgettable cultural and performance experience for local dancers.
Whether your child is new to the stage or an experienced performer, this is an incredible opportunity to be part of a professional production and create memories that will last a lifetime.
About the Dance With Us Program
Each holiday season, NUTCRACKER! Magical Christmas Ballet tours more than 80 cities across North America. Through partnerships with carefully selected host studios, audition directors cast local dancers to perform alongside the international company.
After auditions, selected dancers begin a rehearsal process that culminates in a professional theater performance. This experience allows young dancers to gain confidence, receive exposure to internationally trained artists, and participate in one of the world's most beloved holiday traditions.

Faculty
Jenny Franz Grice - Owner/Director
Miss Jenny began her dance training at the age of five in Irmo, South Carolina, at The Southern Strutt Dance Studio. As a company dancer, she had the opportunity to study with many renowned master teachers and choreographers, including Nancy Giles, Ray Leeper, Dennis Caspary, Joe Tremaine, Doug Caldwell, and Barry Lather.
During her competitive dance years, Miss Jenny earned numerous awards and scholarships, including the Steps on Broadway Young Dancer Scholarship and a Columbia College Dance Scholarship. She also appeared in regional commercials and print campaigns for companies such as Belk, Quincy’s, Sea Pro Boats, Friedman Jewelry, and Southern Magazines.
After graduating from Irmo High School, Miss Jenny attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Elementary Education with a concentration in Visual and Performing Arts. While in college, she was hired as a caption head, drill writer, and choreographer for Swansea High School. She also continued performing professionally with Paramount Parks, appearing as a featured dancer in several mainstage productions, including Magical Madness, The Dancing Cactus, All Shook Up, and Retro Active.
Throughout her career, Miss Jenny has taught and choreographed throughout the Southeast, leading master classes at numerous studios and spending three years on staff with NCA Danz, where she traveled across the Carolinas teaching and choreographing for high school dance teams.
Before opening Legacy Dance Company, Miss Jenny spent nine years as an elementary school teacher in Cabarrus County Schools, where she discovered her passion for education and inspiring young people. Combining her love of teaching with her passion for dance, she founded Legacy Dance Company in Concord, North Carolina, creating a studio focused on excellence, character, and community.
As Owner and Director of LDC, Miss Jenny has received numerous Choreography Awards and Top Prestigious Teacher Awards. Under her leadership, Legacy Dance Company earned the Inferno Nationals "Studio on Fire" Award in 2018 and was selected as the Charlotte host studio for the Moscow Ballet's Great Russian Nutcracker for six consecutive years.
Miss Jenny remains committed to growing both as an educator and industry professional. She holds certifications in Progressive Ballet Technique (PBT), Acrobatic Arts, and Zumba, and maintains certifications in CPR and First Aid. She is also entering her fourth year as the dance instructor at Concord High School.
Beyond the studio, Miss Jenny is passionate about supporting the arts in her community. She has participated in Dancing for the Arts, a Cabarrus Arts Council fundraising event that helps bring arts education into local schools.
When she's not teaching at the studio, working with her high school dancers, or traveling for dance, Miss Jenny loves spending time with her two children, Knox and McCants, and her beloved dogs, Charlotte and Chloe. She enjoys traveling, reading, running, Disney adventures, and relaxing at Hilton Head. Whether at home or in the studio, she embraces the beautiful chaos of balancing family life and dance life.
For Miss Jenny, family and dance are inseparable. She is passionate about sharing her love of both with every student and family who walks through the doors of Legacy Dance Company.

Dawn Mann
Mrs. Dawn is no stranger to the world of dance. She began dancing at the age of two and has spent her life sharing her passion for the art form. Before relocating to Concord, North Carolina, from Indianapolis, Indiana, she owned and directed her own studio, Dance Legacy, for 18 successful years.
Mrs. Dawn enjoys teaching all styles of dance, with a special love for lyrical, contemporary, and jazz. One of her proudest accomplishments was performing with Hubbard Street Dance Chicago, which gave her the opportunity to tour throughout the United States and Germany.
Her dedication to dance extends beyond the studio. Her daughter, DaeLynn, is a proud member of the Indiana University RedSteppers Dance Team, continuing the family's passion for dance excellence.
At Legacy Dance Company, Mrs. Dawn specializes in teaching technique and choreographing for the competition team. Over the years, she has created numerous award-winning routines, earning multiple choreography honors and national titles. Most recently, at the 2025 National Finals, her choreography earned a 1st Overall Solo and two 1st Overall Group awards.
Mrs. Dawn is thrilled to be part of the Legacy Dance Company family and is passionate about helping every dancer reach their full potential, both on and off the stage.
Outside of dance, she enjoys spending time with her husband, Justin, who is also a teacher and choreographer at LDC, as well as spoiling their two beloved dogs.
Justin Mann
Justin Mann is a nationally recognized choreographer and dance educator from Charlotte, North Carolina. Throughout his career, he has trained and mentored dancers who have gone on to perform alongside artists such as Justin Timberlake, Jason Derulo, and Joe Jonas. His students have also appeared in acclaimed Broadway productions including Hamilton, Spamalot, Jagged Little Pill, and A Chorus Line.
In addition to his work in dance education, Justin has created original choreography for the Chicago-based professional dance company Inaside. His award-winning choreography has earned numerous national titles and recognition from some of the most respected names in the dance industry. Among his many accomplishments, Justin was honored as Dance Magazine's Teacher of the Year and has received Choreographer of the Year awards multiple times throughout his career.
Known for his artistic vision, creativity, and commitment to excellence, Justin's choreography has reached audiences around the world. More importantly, he is passionate about inspiring the next generation of dancers, helping each student grow in both skill and confidence while developing a genuine love for the art of dance.
